Dr. Hannah Wollenzien, PhD, FACMG, is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Karyon Genomic Strategies and a highly experienced clinical labratory genetics and genomics professional with specialized expertise in clinical molecular genetics, clinical cytogenetics, and genomic medicine.
Dr. Wollenzien earned her PhD in Basic Biomedical Sciences, with a specialization in genetics and molecular biology, from the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. Her doctoral research focused on the mechanisms of cellular heterogeneity and chemoresistance in small cell lung cancer, providing a strong foundation in molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics, and translational biomedical research.
Following her doctoral training, Dr. Wollenzien completed a two-year clinical laboratory genetics and genomics fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, further developing her expertise in the application of advanced genetic and genomic technologies within the clinical laboratory environment. She subsequently achieved board certification through the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics and earned the distinction of Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (FACMG).
Throughout her career, Dr. Wollenzien has developed extensive expertise in the analysis, interpretation, validation, and clinical application of a broad range of genetic and cytogenetic methodologies. Her areas of experience include next-generation sequencing, molecular genetic testing, cytogenetic analysis, karyotyping, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), PCR-based methodologies, identity testing, and other advanced laboratory techniques.
Her expertise extends beyond individual testing methodologies. Dr. Wollenzien brings a comprehensive understanding of the clinical laboratory ecosystem, including the scientific, technical, regulatory, quality, and interpretive considerations involved in the development and implementation of genetic and genomic testing. This multidisciplinary perspective allows her to evaluate complex laboratory and genomic questions with both scientific rigor and practical clinical insight.
Dr. Wollenzien has also contributed her expertise through professional involvement with organizations including the College of American Pathologists, the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics, and the Cancer Genomics Consortium.

She also provides expert witness services, bringing her scientific and clinical background to matters in which an objective, technically rigorous understanding of genetics and genomic testing is essential.

Throughout his career, Jordan has been immersed in entrepreneurship and business development, working closely with successful businesses and gaining first-hand experience across both the costumer-facing and operational sides of business. His extensive career in the professional services industry has provided him with a particularly strong understanding of client acquisition, relationship management, business development, revenue generation, and the day-to-day demands of building and sustaining a successful organization.
In addition to his professional career, Jordan has maintained a longstanding interest in finance, business strategy, and organizational growth. Through the years of practical experience, he has developed a sophisticated understanding of budgeting, financial decision-making, operational efficiency, resource allocation, and the financial considerations that drive sustainable business growth.
